đź’ˇ Tips:

  • Set a relevant name that easily distinguishes the product class, i.e.: heavy-weight.
  • Slug is the unique keyword of any URL address to refer to the shipping class. Though slug is created automatically if you don’t enter anything here, it is better to add yourself.
  • Description won’t be visible to your customer. You can use it as an important note for that class name.

How to Add Shipping Classes to Products

Well! When you added the shipping classes to your site, now you have one more thing remaining. You have to set your products to the relevant shipping class. If you have already added the products to your site, you can now only define their class from your product page.

You can add shopping classes to products in two ways; add shipping class to a single product or add to multiple products at a time.

Add Shipping Class to Single Product

Go to Product from the sidebar of your dashboard. You will find the edit button when hovering on any already added product from the list.

Select Edit and scroll down the page and you will find the Product Data section. Go to Shipping from this section and you will find the Shipping Class option.

If you want to add a new product to your site you have to click the Add New button from this page instead of editing any product. In this case, you have to fill up all the details about the product and scroll down for the Shipping Class as we already said.

Now Choose the shipping class from the list for specific products and scroll up again to find the Update option at the top right corner. Click update to update all the settings.

You can follow the above steps to add shipping class to products when you add a new product to your website. However, for existing products adding shipping class to all one by one is quite inconvenient and time-consuming. Hence there is another way to add shipping to multiple products at the same time.

Add Shipping Class to Multiple Products at a Time

From the product page, you can assign a Shipping class to multiple products at the same time. You will find a drop-down menu at the top right corner with Bulk Acting; click Edit from the menu.

Now select the products for those you want to assign the same shipping class. Then click the Apply button and you will be taken to another window.

From the bottom right corner of the window, find the Shipping Class option with a drop-down menu.
